Kestrels Recordings Empty Kestrels Recordings

Before you sit a pile of tapes, each marked with a number stating their order. All of them are scattered across the desk and it takes you a while, but eventually you neatly organize them and begin to play them back...

Kestrels Recordings Empty Tape 1- Joining the War

Post  Thegamersean Sat Jul 21, 2012 10:57 pm

[BEGIN RECORDING]
MAN: So... Let's start with the war.

KESTREL: War... War is where the old and bitter send the young and stupid to kill for them. War is a stupid and bloody thing. And I was young and stupid. It was a cold winter night when my friend Sclemier told me about the army, how he and Niko were going to join. I was hesitant at first, but it didn't take much convincing to get me to join. After my fathers... "Mysterious" disappearance, my mother was no longer afraid to make money for her self. She didn't support my cause, but as always she supported my decisions. My sister was even more rebellious the last few days before I left. Those were the quiet days, knowing I would be gone for a few years. It set everyone off, we mainly just made faces at each other, emotions instead of words.

MAN: Emotions...?

KESTREL: Try leaving your family behind. It was a tough decision, but again.,,

MAN: You were young and stupid.

KESTREL: Yes... I was. And joining the war was the stupidest thing I'd ever done.

Kestrels Recordings Empty Tape 2- Preschool

Post  Thegamersean Sat Jul 21, 2012 11:05 pm

[BEGIN RECORDING]

MAN: It says here you had a rocky first day of school.

KESTREL: My god, you have a whole fucking file on me don't you? Yeah, it's not exactly a secret. My childhood wasn't exactly a bundle of roses, it was harsh. My father-

MAN: The drunk.

KESTREL: Yes... The drunk. He was still passed out from the night before, probably whoring around the town, looking for tail. My mother packed me my satchel and put me in her favorite sailor outfit, buffed me up to look all pretty for the first day of school. As she gave me a kiss on the nose and was about to send me out the door, it flew open. I got a good clonk against the nose and tumbled back against the floor. My father strolled in, his hair a mess, stumbling around a bit. He strode walked in and smacked my mother across the mouth, without a moments hesitation. The sound still sends chills down my bones, even to this day. I was scared, and I ran. It was the first day I'd gone somewhere alone as a child and felt perfectly at home. The teacher was real nice too, bandaged up the bloody nose my father'd given me.

MAN: So, tell me about relations with your father...

KESTREL: My father... In due time. In due time...

Kestrels Recordings Empty Tape 3- The Beating

Post  Thegamersean Mon Jul 23, 2012 12:14 am

[START RECORDING]

MAN: It says here you were expelled from your school in sixth grade... Could you elaborate on this?

KESTREL: It was a snowy day... I was walking home from school, Thursday I think, when these three punks walked up to me... High schoolers, no life- Fucking idiots. Without a word, one threw snow in my face and the others jumped me. They burned a cigarette in my cheek, then let me go, apparently as a "warning" not to walk on their street again. After what I did to my father, backing down was never an option. I snuck a base ball bat into my coat by tripping the top off a bit, actually giving it a splintery end. The next day, I went down there street and sure enough they showed.

MAN: Were they apart of any gangs, or someone trying to send a message through force?

KESTREL: Anarchist I think, either way they were rabid dogs, biting at anything they could. The first one approached me, cigarette in hand, I could even see the bright orange coming at my face. I ducked back, sliding the bat form my jacket. The first one was a bit surprised, and he got hit due to his surprise. I got him a good one in the wrist, actually twisting his wrist and hand at an odd angle. He was in shock and fell down on the snow, the others coming up at me. One grabbed my arm and I smacked him with the stock of the bat, the other coming up to my right. Before he could do anything I got him with the splintery end, gashing his face open and making him trip on the pavement. The one grabbing my arm I hit again in the face, this time getting him off of me. He grabbed his nose but I didn't pause. Not even more a minute. I swung my bat, hitting both his knees and popping one out of place. He fell at my feet, so instinctively I hit him again in the back of the head. I heard he lost a tooth on that pavement after leaving the hospital. The other kid stood up, blood in his eyes, all confused. Before he could really get the whole situation, slammed the jagged edge of my bat into his stomach and slammed him almost throat a window to an old abandoned apartment building. He fell on the snow, also on his knees. I grabbed him by the hair and smashed his head into the wall, knocking him out. The other one was still holding his wrist in shock. SO, I picked up his cigarette and jammed it in his eye. Went blind. Or so I heard...

-there is a silence on the other end, a tense silence, as if there is a crowd of confused people listening-

MAN: Uhm... -clears throat loudly, nervously- So, tell us about the day you were Enlisted.
